An Introduction to Business Craftsmanship
This one day workshop is planned to coincide with the Scrum Gathering in London. Tobias will run a session at the gathering entitled Dogma-free Scrum: the Why behind the What. The ideas presented at the gathering will be expanded upon in the Business Craftsmanship workshop, exploring more deeply the values and principles at the foundation of the Scrum process—the aspects that make it actually work, and the absence of which causes Scrum to frequently collapse into parodies of itself, leaving people frustrated and disillusioned.
Business Craftsmanship eschews prescriptive process for human interaction, focussing on human-centric values and principles across the whole organization to generate a culture of trust, passion and creativity—to foster an environment where engagement flourishes as a happy equal to financial success. Business Craftsmanship employs extraordinary, and sometimes counter-intuitive ideas, juxtaposed with a pragmatic approach to generate the tension, energy and beauty conducive to such transformation.
This introductory course will explore a few key aspects of Business Craftsmanship, including
* self-organization
* complex adaptive system (CAS) thinking
* making meaningful requests
* collaborative conversation
* focus
* transparency
* emergence
If you are currently practicing Scrum this will deepen your understanding of its underlying paradigm, and if you are not, this will act as an introduction to a new way of thinking about work.
